All three read a behavior of the animal in question and convert it to the specific thing ( Color, Shell or Sound ) and this is all they do.Greater knowledge of these processes are required for greater understanding of these things.
The reason for the single lamp is that their abilities in all three cases are very unrelated to themselves and their behavior and rather are contextual to all of reality and not just themselves.

Specrency Lamp
Records speed of run, to convert to colors of shade.
Modulo Lamp
Maps tunnels built by ant, produces shells of objects in turn.
